This attractive and sporty Auburn 8-98 features the stylish and desirable factory-built 2/4-passenger cabriolet coachwork. Part of a West Coast collection for 30 years, this charming 8-98 Cabriolet is the subject of an older restoration which is well-preserved, displaying a moderate patina all around. Finished in sky-blue with dark blue trim over a dark blue leather interior, the livery suits this car's sporting character quite well, and it is very nicely equipped with numerous accessories including dual side-mount spares, radiator mascot, Trippe lights, and wire wheels. Power comes from a 268 cubic-inch Lycoming inline eight-cylinder engine, backed by a 3-speed manual gearbox and optional two-speed rear axle. The robust eight is rated for 98 horsepower, and particularly when equipped with the two-speed rear end makes the 8-98 a superb performer. This honest and charming example can be enjoyed as-is with minimal preparation, or easily brought up a level or two should its next keeper desire. The Classic Car Club of America recognizes the 8-98 series as a Full Classic, and this example is a fine selection for entry into CCCA CARavan Tours, Auburn Cord Duesenberg Club events, or for pleasurable weekend drives.
