We are excited to invite you to the New England Region Grand Classic to be held in the historic town of Sandwich, Massachusetts. Sandwich is one of the oldest towns in Massachusetts (founded in 1637). The town is conveniently located on Cape Cod, next to the Cape Cod Canal and Cape Cod Bay. We have reserved rooms at Sandwich Lodge and Resort starting at $155 per night with a two- night minimum, three nights suggested. Games Day (Friday) and the Grand Classic (Saturday) will be held at Heritage Museums and Gardens in Sandwich. If you have never been to the museum, you are in for a treat. One hundred acres of gardens and three museum buildings showcasing Classic and antique cars in the Round Barn, the cranberry industry exhibit and the 1908 Looff Carousel. New for this year Heritage Museums will be celebrating the country’s 250th anniversary with revolutionary displays and vignettes throughout the grounds and buildings. There is something for everyone.
Thursday June 4th is arrival day. The hospitality room at the host hotel will open at 3:00 pm. Join us for cocktails and dinner that evening at the lovely Dunbar House Tea Room & Wine Bar. The building that is the Dunbar House restaurant was built as a carriage house to the main home in the 1740s. The restaurant is normally only open for lunch and afternoon tea, exclusively for us, we will be treated to a special dinner by one of the finest chefs in southeastern Massachusetts.
Friday June 5th is Games Day. After continental breakfast at the hotel we will travel the 1 1⁄2 miles to Heritage Museums and Gardens which will host us for our Classic Skills Games event. Be prepared to test your driving skills and your navigator’s direction giving skills on Heritage’s grassy parade field. Some of the games to be played are Car Egg Run, Slalom Bean Bag Toss, Blind Figure Eight Course and Car Soccer. Bring your sense of humor for this fun low-key event held on the gorgeous grounds of the museum. Enjoy socializing with your fellow contestants. Box lunches will be supplied on the game field. After the games conclude you will have time to explore Heritage on your own. Dinner will be on your own with restaurant suggestions in your tour book.
Saturday June 6th. The Grand Classic! Heritage will host us for this premier event. After continental breakfast at the Sandwich Lodge you will bring your Full Classic to Heritage Museums and Gardens. While the judges are having their breakfast meeting, you will be directed to place your cars on the parade field. The parade field lawn is a lovely setting to display your Full Classics surrounded by shade trees. Your box lunch will be provided to you on the show field. Our awards banquet will be held that evening in the Heald Center at the Round Barn with cocktails and music among the Heritage Museum car collection. During the cocktail hour the Heritage work and storage area will be open for viewing.
