Four Grand Classics Slated for 2010 The first will be held by the Delaware Valley Region on Friday and Saturday, April 16-17, in Malvern, Pennsylvania. The Grand Classic will be held on Saturday at the Desmond Hotel in Malvern. It will be preceded by a Friday evening cocktail party at the new Simeone Automotive Museum, a world class museum created by Dr. Fred Simeone. Coordinator for the Delaware Valley Region Grand Classic is Thym Smith of Wilmington, Delaware The first Grand Classic held in Georgia is scheduled for Friday and Saturday, May 14-15, in Stone Mountain, Georgia. The Grand Classic will be held at the Marriott Stone Mountain Inn on Saturday. It will be preceded by tour on Friday to two Atlanta landmarks — The Varsity (the world’s largest drive-in restaurant) and the legendary, grandiose Fox Theater — followed by a visit to the High Museum of Art, which is featuring “The Allure of the Automobile” with 18 rare automobiles from the 1930’s through the 1960’s. John and Eloise Haulbrook are the coordinators for the Georgia Grand Classic. A Grand Classic will be part of the “Experience” weekend at the Classic Car Museum in Hickory Corners, Michigan on June 2-4, which will feature Closed Cars. The Grand Classic will be held on Saturday, June 3. The Experience will be held on Sunday, June 4. A driving tour will be held on Friday, followed by a welcome barbecue. All events will take place on the museum grounds, which is part of the Gilmore Car Museum campus. (Note: Separate registrations are required for the Grand Classic and Experience.) A second Grand Classic will be held July 9-10 in Dearborn, Michigan at the famous Dearborn Inn, originally built as an airport hotel by Henry Ford. It will be preceded by a tour on Friday that will include visits to the automotive collections of Ted Stahl and Mark Thomas plus a visit to the Classic & Exotic Restoration facility (Brian Joseph). Friday’s dinner will be held at the Dearborn Country Club. Coordinator of the July 10 Michigan Grand Classic is Lee Barthel. Closed Cars Will Be Featured at the 2010 CCCA Museum Experience The Experience will be held on Sunday. Other weekend events include a Welcome Barbecue Party on Friday evening on the museum grounds. A countryside tour will depart the museum grounds on Saturday morning. A cocktail party and dinner will be held that evening. A silent auction will be held throughout the weekend, culminating with a live auction during dinner on Saturday. A farewell supper will be held Sunday evening, following the Experience. Also taking place that weekend will be a CCCA Grand Classic, on Saturday on the museum grounds, as well as display of automotive art in the Gilmore barns.
