The First Four Grand Classics Were Great

The first Grand Classic of the season was held by the Delaware Valley Region on April 16-17, in Malvern, Pennsylvania at the Desmond Hotel. The event kicked off on Friday evening with a cocktail party at the new Simeone Automotive Museum, a world-class museum created by Dr. Fred Simeone.

Thanks goes out to the Delaware Valley Region Grand Classic and the event coordinator, Thym Smith of Wilmington, Delaware, for very fine event.

The first successful Grand Classic held in Georgia was held May 14-15 in Stone Mountain, Georgia at the Marriott Stone Mountain Inn on Saturday. It will be preceded by tour on Friday to two Atlanta landmarks — The Varsity (the world’s largest drive-in restaurant) and the legendary, grandiose Fox Theater — followed by a visit to the High Museum of Art, which is featuring “The Allure of the Automobile” with 18 rare automobiles from the 1930’s through the 1960’s.

Thanks goes out to the Region as well as John and Eloise Haulbrook who were the coordinators for the Georgia Grand Classic.

Another successful Grand Classic was part of the “Experience” weekend at the Classic Car Museum in Hickory Corners, Michigan on June 4-6, featuring Closed Cars. The Grand Classic was held on Saturday, June 5. The Experience was held on Sunday, June 6. A driving tour on Friday was followed by a welcome barbecue. All events took place on the museum grounds, which is part of the Gilmore Car Museum campus.

Thanks goes out to the Michigan Region as well as the CCCA Museum for a wonderful and eventful weekend.

The Michigan Grand Classic, held July 9-10 in Dearborn, Michigan, had plenty of Classics and fun for all. The Grand Classic was at the famous Dearborn Inn, originally built as an airport hotel by Henry Ford. It was preceded by a tour on Friday that included visits to the automotive collections of Ted Stahl and Mark Thomas plus a visit to the Classic & Exotic Restoration facility (Brian Joseph). Friday’s dinner was held at the Dearborn Country Club.

Thanks goes out to the Michigan Region and the event coordinator, Lee Barthel, for putting on another fantastic event .
